Introducing our Blog to Newcomers

Today is one of those days that deserves a special post: our blog has officially reached 3,000,000 visits. To be honest, I never thought we would reach this figure...

And it is not just a number. It represents hundred thousands of moments in which someone, somewhere in the world, stopped by to read an article, learn something new, find inspiration, solve a problem, or simply spend a few minutes exploring the content published here. For that reason, this milestone belongs as much to you as it does to me.

A Journey Built One Post at a Time

Over the years, this blog has covered a wide range of English Learning Topics. From practical vocabulary sheets and educational resources to grammar explantions, links to world news, recommendations and learning strategies, the goal has always been the same: to create content that is useful, interesting, worth your time, and why not fun at the same time..

Writing Task: INFORMATION SHEET

If you didn't attend class last Wednesday, this is the writing task for next Wednesday; if you did, choose between the given options on Wed. and these:

Write a 220-250 Information Sheet on ONE of the three topics suggested below. Before you start, review p. 201 in your textbook. Do use the Useful Language provided and proofread it before handing it in / e-mailing it by next Wednesday 22nd.

Reasons to watch SKY NEWS everyday

 You keep yourself informed about current affairs in the world.

 You listen to different types of register: formal (newsreaders) and informal (people interviewed)

 You listen to different types of accents: people from all over the world and from everywhere in the UK or the USA.

 In only three minutes you hear about several different topics: politics, sports, economy, society, music, environment...

 The news are very similar to the ones you’ve heard in your mother tongue, which helps your understanding.

The campaign to be class rep has just started. The election will be held this week during the last 5 minutes before the break.

Representative Duties: 

• Serve as a mediator between the group and the teacher to solve class problems. 
• Summon the students of the group to inform them about topics referring to their rights and interests. 
• Attend Representative meetings held during the year.

• Discuss abstract topics like economics, politics or culture
• Handle fast, informal conversations without panicking
• Write essays, proposals and detailed arguments
