Global Voices
Watch this video by Macmillan on Global Voices and listen to David Crystal talking on the subject.
Even though both videos have to do with the presentation of a new course for adult learners by the publishers, they're an excellent way to introduce this year and to make us realise why study English and what English to study.
Yes, definitely: we're going to study English by practising the four skills and we'll be helped with some grammar and loads of vocabulary.
Welcome!!!

Are our brains built for languages?
Learning a language is no easy task. Simple syntactic ambiguities, he argued, throw a wrench into prevalent theories that the human brain is well evolved—or even optimally evolved—for language.
