I am on the same page about most of the things she says, but I have to take issue with one statement. Personally, I feel that in order to understand complicated aspects of grammar it is necessary to understand it in your native language. I don´t find practical the immersion program through Princeton University to learn Chinese in Beijing where Students had to sign the pledge "If you speak English at any time during the program, you get kicked out". If you don't understand something in Chinese, you won't understand it even if they repeat it to you 100 times.
