Express Publishing Summit 2023 | Webinars
This year, we took education slow. We brought together everything that has made an impression on us in English Language Teaching today and we looked at it from start to finish. Our 14 webinars, spread over two days, guided participants through advanced, applied methodologies and fresh material that bring together everything we need in a class: motivation, exploration and joy!
I recommend watching the first one by Jenny Dooley, author of our C2 textbook, co-author of C1's and president of Express Publishing. Really worth watching! Choose some among the other presentations. I am positive more than one will arouse your interest, as they deal with interesting topics. Do not miss it if you are (or will be) a teacher.
Enjoy the webinars!!!

The nations of El Salvador and the Central African Republic have even gone so far as to adopt a cryptocurrency as one of their official currencies. However, for those of us who are old school and still use classic dollars and cents, cryptocurrency and its related lingo can be kind of confusing. We are going to break down the language around the hype... (from dictionary.com)

Dear readers,
The "catastrophic implosion" of the Titan submersible dominated the news this week, but EL PAÍS also reconstructed the 11-hour-long search for survivors of the fishing trawler that sank in Greek waters on June 14 and is considered among the biggest migrant tragedies in the Mediterranean.
We also interviewed an Estonian Foreign Ministry official on the subject of the Ukraine war, and asked psychologist Robert J. Sternberg about ways to stimulate intelligence and creativity.
This week we also bring you a look at how Cairo's ancient City of the Dead is in danger from urban development, and a feature on the fascinating life of Bess Houdini, the escape artist's wife.
We hope you enjoy this selection of articles from EL PAÍS USA Edition. Thanks for reading.

Dear readers,
Trump's indictment on federal charges dominated the news this week. We analyzed how a grand jury is more likely to produce such an outcome than other legal avenues, and traveled to Miami where TV crews are camped outside the courthouse where he will be arraigned.
We also interviewed Ecuador's ex-president Rafael Correa, talked to a Harvard psychologist about how we're turning our children into robots, looked at Japan's growing problem with its aging population, and went on a very special trip to Brazil's Amazon rainforest.

Dear readers,
This week we bring you two in-depth investigations. The first is a collaborative effort with other news outlets into the February shipwreck of a migrant boat off Italian shores that left over 90 people dead. The other is a series of first-person accounts by journalists fighting to keep holding government to account in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala.
We also talked with NASA chief Bill Nelson about water on the Moon, with Italy's Deputy PM Matteo Salvini about the possibility of a right-wing coalition in Europe, and with 'Succession' creator Jesse Armstrong about how Brexit and Donald Trump helped shape the HBO series.
Finally, we explored the immense but not so well-known musical talent of Federico García Lorca and the captivating neo-Mudéjar buildings of Barcelona.

A quick guide to speaking C2 English (By Natalialzam)
I tend to make the claim in class that no native speaker usually speaks English like you’re required to speak in a C2 exam. Probably, this is the realm of academic language, the news, literature, and royalty, perhaps. Fair enough. But what can you do to sound more ‘C2-ish’? (By Natalialzam)
