EL PAÍS (Spanish News in English)

All the president’s businesses

Dear readers,

Donald Trump isn’t the first U.S. president to come from the business world, but there’s no precedent for one whose fortune has grown so much during his presidency, largely thanks to — as his critics argue — the power and visibility of the presidential brand itself.

The name Larry Amaury Álvarez Núñez, better known as “Larry Changa,” is becoming increasingly prominent in Colombia. The 47-year-old Venezuelan is one of the founders of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang. Changa has made an unusual proposal to the Gustavo Petro government to enter the latter’s “total peace” process and avoid extradition to Chile.

This week's interviewees include the president-elect of Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz, who says he wants "capitalism for everyone;" Lux Pascal, sister to the popular actor Pedro Pascal and an actress in her own right; and a marine biologist who was bitten in the head by a shark, and is now on a mission to prove that the animals are not the killers they're made out to be.

We hope you enjoy this selection of articles from EL PAÍS USA Edition.
