Help Syrian Refugees

We are collecting food and medical supplies for Syrian refugees in the region this week. They will be sent by the Asociación de Apoyo al Pueblo Sirio, which has already managed to get other shipments to Syria. Our School has offered to collaborate as a collection point in Cartagena. Please report back to students who can give their contribution in the cafeteria or in the Head of Studies office until Friday 13 May.

Session details: Complaints about a supposed decline in standards of English continue to be made, with increasing frequency, in the British press. Although these are nothing new - as the long history of use of would of for would have illustrates - they do draw attention to the way we seem to be going through a period of unusually rapid language change. This paper illustrates the main changes in pronunciation, orthography, grammar, and vocabulary, discusses the chief factors involved - social mobility, globalization, and the Internet - and compares the changes that have taken place in the past fifty years with those that are likely to take place in the next fifty.

La Noche de los Museos 16


El Día Internacional de los Museos se celebra en todo el mundo desde 1977. Desde entonces, muchas ciudades europeas (http://nuitdesmusees.culture.fr/) se unen a esta iniciativa dentro del Día Internacional de los Museos. Este año la noche del 21 de mayo, museos de toda Europa abrirán sus puertas e iluminarán el panorama cultural de nuestro viejo continente. Museums at night (UK) Events
Se ha preparado una amplia oferta de cultura y ocio, complementaria a las exhibiciones temporales y permanentes de los museos. La ciudad abrirá sus puertas a la cultura y el arte: Se podrán visitar todos sus espacios museísticos de manera gratuita, desde las 8 de la tarde hasta las 2 de la madrugada. Será, un año más, una noche única con un programa especial de propuestas culturales organizadas en los museos y sus inmediaciones.
