Rising US-Venezuela tension


Dear readers,

Tension between the United States and Venezuela is at an all-time high after the U.S. carried out a strike on a boat that had departed from Venezuela. Eleven people died in the operation, which the U.S. said was aimed at stopping a shipment of drugs.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is considering withdrawing Russia from the European Convention for the Prevention of Torture (ECPT). We spoke to Ukrainian soldier Maksim Butkevich, who was tortured while a prisoner of war.
