‌‌In Mexico, the violence continued unabated: two top aides to the mayor of Mexico City were gunned down in broad daylight, while the drug cartels continued to litter the country with bodies as part of their turf wars.

Our global coverage also took us to the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Gaza and to Antarctica, where an island-volcano could erupt soon.

In the cultural world, all eyes were on Cannes, where our correspondents analyzed the directorial debuts of Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson, and interviewed U2 frontman Bono about the need "to fight against this general feeling that the world is screwed."

Latin America bids farewell to Pepe Mujica

Dear readers,

José "Pepe" Mujica, the iconic former president of Uruguay known for his austere lifestyle, died this week at the age of 89. Leftist leaders across Latin America paid tribute to the former guerilla fighter, praising his honesty, humility, and commitment to Latin American integration.

Meanwhile, in the United States, Trump's immigration crackdown continues to take a toll on Venezuelan migrants. EL PAÍS spoke to three of the eight women who were sent to El Salvador, only to be flown back to the United States. All they want now is to be deported home.

We also traveled to the library that has one door in Canada and the other in the United States. Over the last month, it has become a living symbol of the complex situation that Trump’s administration has created for the residents of the two neighboring nations.

And in business news, we looked at how Zara's global fashion network has been growing under Marta Ortega, the chair of Inditex.

Notas a mejorar (o no) en Convocatoria Extraordinaria

Extracto de la Orden de Evaluación 2022 (artículo 15) respecto a las convocatorias ordinaria y extraordinaria:

"4. El alumnado oficial que haya obtenido una calificación igual o superior al cincuenta por ciento en alguna o algunas de las actividades de lengua en la convocatoria ordinaria quedará eximido de su realización en la convocatoria extraordinaria que se convoque en el mismo curso académico.

5. Sin perjuicio de lo anterior, el alumnado de los cursos conducentes a certificación que haya obtenido una calificación global inferior al sesenta y cinco por ciento del valor total de la prueba, podrá realizar, en la convocatoria extraordinaria, las partes de la prueba correspondiente a aquellas actividades de lengua en las que hubiera alcanzado una puntuación inferior al sesenta y cinco por ciento. El hecho de presentarse a la convocatoria extraordinaria en una actividad de lengua implicará la renuncia a la calificación obtenida en dicha actividad en la convocatoria
ordinaria."
